Article 1 — Purpose
These terms of use govern access to and use of the ConvertLab.cloud service.
Using the service means fully accepting these terms. The publisher of the service is identified in the legal notice.
Article 2 — Description of the service
ConvertLab.cloud is an online file conversion service. Conversion runs on dedicated servers located in France.
Your file is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), converted in a temporary workspace, and that workspace is destroyed entirely as soon as the result is sent. No copy is kept; no file is viewed, analysed or shared with any third party.
Unit and currency converters are the exception: the calculation runs directly in your browser and no data is sent to the server.
The service is offered as a free tier (with limits) and as paid NoLimit access.
Article 3 — Access to the service
The free tier is open to all and requires no registration or account.
The publisher may modify, suspend or discontinue all or part of the service at any time, notably for maintenance.
Article 4 — Acceptable use
Users undertake to:
— use the service in compliance with applicable law;
— convert no file whose content is unlawful;
— make no attempt to circumvent the technical limits or quotas of the service;
— not automate requests to the point of degrading the service for other users.
Any breach may result in immediate restriction or suspension of access.
Article 5 — Free-tier limits
The free tier is subject to the following limits, designed to keep the service usable for everyone:
— up to 10 files converted per day;
— 1 video conversion per day;
— 100 MB free · 1 GB NoLimit · 250 MB video;
— some formats are reserved for NoLimit access;
— non-intrusive advertising is displayed.
These limits are enforced server-side, on the basis of the IP address. Details are set out in the privacy policy.
Article 6 — NoLimit access
NoLimit access costs 2 € for 31 days. VAT not applicable (Article 293 B of the French Tax Code).
This is not a subscription: payment is one-off. There is no automatic renewal, no recurring charge and no account to cancel. After 31 days, access simply reverts to the free tier.
Payment is handled by Stripe. The publisher never has access to your card details.
Access is granted through an anonymous token stored in your browser. No account is created: if you clear your browser data or switch device, the token — and the access — is lost.
NoLimit removes the free-tier quotas and unlocks every format. With NoLimit, the size limit rises to 1 GB per file (250 MB for video).
Article 7 — Right of withdrawal
NoLimit access is digital content supplied immediately after payment.
Under Article L.221-28 of the French Consumer Code, a consumer who requests immediate activation expressly waives the fourteen-day right of withdrawal and acknowledges losing it once access is activated.
Absent immediate activation, the fourteen-day right of withdrawal applies under ordinary law.
Article 8 — User responsibility
Users are solely responsible for the files they submit and for the use they make of the converted files. They warrant that they hold the necessary rights to those files.
ConvertLab.cloud performs no antivirus scanning. It is up to the user to ensure that the files they convert and download are safe.
Since files are destroyed as soon as the conversion is complete, no recovery is possible: keep a copy of your original files.
Article 9 — Publisher liability
The service is provided “as is”, with no guarantee of result. The publisher does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, nor the perfect fidelity of every conversion: output quality depends on the source format and the settings chosen.
The publisher cannot be held liable for data loss, loss of profit or indirect damage arising from use of the service.
Article 10 — Intellectual property
The service, its design, its source code and its editorial content are protected by intellectual property law. Any reproduction without prior written consent is prohibited.
ConvertLab relies on open-source conversion engines (FFmpeg, LibreOffice, ImageMagick, Pandoc, Calibre, 7-Zip), used in accordance with their respective licences.
Article 11 — Changes to these terms
The publisher may amend these terms at any time. Changes take effect upon publication. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance.
Article 12 — Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law.
Failing an amicable settlement, the French courts shall have jurisdiction. Consumers may bring proceedings before the court of their place of residence.
