Read an exchange rate
Understand the meaning of the rate before multiplying an amount.
Educational example: with a fictitious rate of 1 A = 2 B, 50 A are worth 100 B.
Tips and precautions
The rate is always associated with a conversion direction. For the reverse direction, its mathematical inverse is used. The calculator obtains both currencies from the same base EUR in order to calculate their ratio.
Check the starting currency, the target currency, and the date of the data. The above example is not a real quotation.
Reference rate and amount paid
Distinguish between a conversion estimate and the amount offered by a provider.
To compare an estimate to a payment, note the same currency pair, the same amount, and the fees displayed by the provider.
Tips and precautions
The calculation shown multiplies an amount by a reference rate. It does not add commissions, fixed fees, or any potential margins of your bank or payment service.
Check the final amount offered before confirming an exchange. This calculator does not execute any payment or currency exchange.
Understanding the rate date
Knowing which moment the data used for the calculation corresponds to.
The displayed date is the one provided by the source, not simply the time at which you open the page.
Tips and precautions
The public source used by the existing component, ExchangeRate-API, updates this free access daily. Loading a page therefore does not necessarily produce a new rate.
If the loading fails, no results are invented. Check the connection and then restart the loading with the provided button.
